With its 80-year successful history, the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" has established itself as the number one sports university in Bulgaria.
Here, educational and scientific activities are conducted at all educational and scientific levels in accredited professional fields in the areas of higher education: pedagogy of physical education, sports, public health, and health care.
The number of sports in which one can obtain professional coaching qualifications is 69—an impressive figure encompassing Olympic and globally developed sports. The NSA diploma is recognized worldwide, and many specialists graduate with an additional specialty. This doubles their chances for a successful career.
In addition to sports coaching, the NSA offers other promising professional qualifications such as sports animator, sports manager, combat and applied physical training coach and security specialist, adapted physical activity and sports coach, strength and conditioning coach, sports commentator, physical education teacher, and kinesitherapist.

It houses the Rectorate and the main academic building, open and indoor sports facilities, a modernly equipped Center for Scientific and Applied Activities in Sports, a dining block, and dormitories. The unique educational and sports base of the NSA is complemented by a swimming pool, as well as an academic building in the city center (1 Gurgulyat Street), which was fully renovated in 2019, sports complexes in the Pirin, Rila, and Vitosha mountains, and on the seaside near the town of Nessebar. All of this is available to students during their studies, as well as for sports and recreation during their free time.
The greatest contribution to the unique atmosphere of the academy comes from its students. Almost all elite athletes and coaches of Bulgaria, who have won Olympic, world, and European titles, are alumni or current students. Many young people are state medalists or just ordinary sports enthusiasts.
